yep. this guy formerly swapped into his Fiero a VR6, and now has a TDi diesel (automatic) in there....55.4 mpg so far it appears. this video is of the test drive after installation. Personally I want to see a TDi in the front of an old insight.

Your post is almost correct. The VR6 is in one Fiero, the TDI is another Fiero, which I own and is my DD here in S/W FL. Best mileage to date 57.3 mpg. Here’s a link I started in 2013 detailing “Life with TDI Fiero”. http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/092218.html
The TDI runs great, the instrument cluster from the doner Jetta was installed in the Fiero dash, along with the fly by wire pedal. The VW A/C compressor works well with the GM air conditioning system.
